RESULTS OF INTERVIEW / NAGHAM

1. On 06APR06, Reporting Agent (RA) interviewed Ms. NAGHAM Fawaz Suliman, CIV, at House 4 in the Al Askari neighborhood of Haditha, Iraq, IZ). Despite Ms. NAGHAM's limited ability to speak English, the interview was conducted in Arabic with Sari "Sam" NSEIR, CIV Contractor, providing the Arabic-English translation. Ms. NAGHAM was advised this interview was being conducted, pursuant to the captioned

investigation. Due to the patriarchal naming structure associated with the Arab culture, all individuals identified in this report will be addressed by their first name after being fully identified. All spellings of names are as provided by the linguist. For purposes of clarity, the houses referenced in this report are designated with numbers created during the course of this investigation. The numbers are not the actual street, addresses of the houses.

2. Ms. NAGHAM stated on 19NOV05, she was awake at 0500 and was getting ready to go to Baghdad with her husband, Mr. MARWAN Aiad Ahmed, CIV. Ms. NAGHAM related her brother-in-law, Mr. KATAN Aiad Ahmed, CIV, was also awake and preparing to leave. Ms. NAGHAM advised she was standing on the patio outside of House 4 with Mr. MARWAN when she heard a loud explosion. After the explosion, Ms. NAGHAM related everybody else in the house woke up and gathered in the hallway. Ms. NAGHAM stated that she and Mr. MARWAN were ready to leave for Baghdad, but decided to stay and have breakfast because of the explosion. Ms. NAGHAM stated she did not hear anything else going on outside other than the loud explosion.

3. After breakfast, Ms. NAGHAM related she walked next door to House 3 and saw that the windows ware broken. Ms. NAGHAM related she presumed the windows were broken by the large explosion. Ms. NAGHAM advised she went back to House 4 with Mr. MARWAN and saw that the U.S. Marines were waving for them to come outside. Ms. NAGHAM stated everybody went outside and stood in the courtyard, thinking the

Marines were going to search the house.

4. Ms. NAGHAH advised the Marines appeared to be extremely upset and asked, them to stand in two lines; the women and children in one line and the men in another line. Ms. NAGHAM stated the Marines told them to sit down and not to look up at the Marines. Ms. NAGHAM related the Marines asked them if there were any "bombs" or "mujahideen" in the house. Ms. NAGHAM advised the Marines were told there was an AK-47 assault rifle in each house. Ms. NAGHAM stated the Marines went with her brother-in-law, Mr. JASEB Aiad Ahmed, CIV, to House 4 to retrieve an AK-47 and with her brother and sister-in-law respectively, Mr. JAMAL, Aiad Ahmed, CIV and Ms. NAJLAE Abd Al-Razak, CIV, to House 3 to retrieve a second AK-47. Ms. NAGHAM advised she is certain the Marines had the AK-47's in their possession before they moved all the women and children to House 3. Ms. NAGHAM related the Marines checked the AK-47's, but does not know what happened to them after that.

5. According to Ms. NAGHAM, the Marines took all the women and children and forced them into House 3. Ms. NAGHAM related her young nephew, Mr. KHALED Jamal Aiad, CIV, was originally grouped with the men, but her sister-in-law, Ms. EHAB Ayed Turki, CIV, called Mr. KHALED and told him to come back outside. Ms. NAGHAM stated the Marine who was watching over them was pushing the women and pointing

his weapon at them. Once the women were in House 3, Ms. NAGHAM related they were screaming and Ms. NAJLAE was trying to open the door. Ms. NAGHAM advised the Marine outside closed the door three times, before he broke the window next to the door. Ms. MAGHAM related she did not see how the Marine broke the window.

6. MS. NAGHAM stated the fourth time Ms. NAJLAE opened the door, they heard shooting. Ms. NAGHAM advised Mr. KHALED, Ms. NAJLAE and Ms. EHAB entered House 4 first. As she was walking into House 4, Ms. NAGHAM related Mr. KHALED and Ms. NAJLAE were leaving the house and told her the men had all been killed. Ms. NAGHAM advised she remembers seeing smoke in the house and could smell gunpowder.

7. At the request of RA, Ms. NAGHAM showed RA where the bodies were positioned when she entered the bedroom. Ms. NAGHAM advised Mr. JASEB was lying on the floor immediately as you walk into the bedroom. Ms. NAGHAM related Mr. JASEB's head was to the south and his feet were to the north. Ms. NAGHAM stated Mr. KATAN was next. Ms. NAGHAM advised Mr. KATAN's body was slightly positioned up against the closet doors and his feet were lying close to Mr. JASEB's head. Ms. NAGHAM stated Mr. MARWAN was lying in the closet with his feet sticking out of the open closet door. Ms. NAGHAM stated Mr. JAMAL was lying on the floor in the corner of the room next to the closet. Ms. NAGHAM stated Mr. JAMAL's head was to the south and his feet were to the north. Ms. NAGHAM advised Mr. JAMAL' s head was slightly propped up against the south wall. While in the bedroom, Ms. NAGHAM advised there was a hole in the wall she believed was caused by a bullet. Ms. NAGHAM related she does not remember the hole being there before that day. The hole in the wall pointed out by Ms. NAGHAM was in the southwest corner of the bedroom, west wall, approximately six and a half feet from the ground and three and a half feet from the south wall. The hole appeared to have been caused by a shelf or something that was previously running horizontally along the west wall and did not appear consistent with a hole left by a projectile. RA photographed the hole, enclosures (A) and (B) pertain. A close-up photograph of the hole was lost due to memory stick error. RA probed the hole for a projectile to no avail.

8. Ms. NAGHAM advised she checked all of the bodies and determined the men were all dead. Ms. NAGHAM related none of the women moved any of the bodies. Ms. NAGHAM stated all of the women were crying in House 4, when four Marines came back to the house. Ms. NAGHAM stated the four Marines who showed up were different from the three Marines who were previously at the house. Ms. NAGHAM stated the four Marines asked the women to go outside the house.  Ms. KAGHAM advised the four Marines who came to House 4 did not seem like they were aware that four men had been killed in the house.  Ms. NAGHAM stated two Marines stayed outside the house with the women and two went inside.  Ms. NAGHAM advised the two Marines who went inside House 4 took Mr. KATAN's bag.

9.  Ms. NAGHAM related she stayed in House 4 until nighttime.  At approximately 2100, Ms. NAGHAM advised three different Marines came to the house, told the women to go to House 3 and took pictures of the bodies.  Ms. NAGHAM stated the Marines brought, a big bag with them and she did not know what it was for.  After the Marines left, Ms. NAGHAM advised the women went back to House 4 and the bodies of the four men were gone.

10.  Ms. NAGHAM stated at no time did she see any fighters in the streets other than the Marines.  Ms. NAGHAM confirmed that she never looked outside of the courtyard and would not have seen any fighters even if they were out there.

11. This interview was cut short due to small arms fire in Haditha, IZ as the interview was wrapping up.
